A Month of Performances
November 2019: This month has been full of exciting musical performances at Lindsay Elementary:
- 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders performed for our community's veterans and their families at a district-wide Veteran's Day assembly. This event provided a special opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of our country’s heros while also giving students the chance to learn some of America’s most treasured patriotic songs.
- The 4th graders put on a fantastic musical built around Tomie dePaola's book The Legend of the Bluebonnet, which is based on Comanche Indian lore and tells the story of the Texas state flower. The program provided the opportunity for students to make connections to the Texas history they were learning in their social studies classroom as well as the opportunity to listen to the perspectives and experiences of classmates whose family members are members of the Comanche Nation.
- A group of 5th graders performed at Lindsay's annual Senior Citizen Luncheon, sharing classics like "Hey, Good Lookin'" accompanied by ukuleles and singing rounds like "Peace Canon" a capella.
